In 1935, the first Slovenian-Prekmurje club was founded in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, by approximately 500 people from Prekmurje who were part of the then Slovenian community in Uruguay.

On Sunday, October 8, 2023, the Club celebrated its 88th anniversary. At this year's anniversary, no special guests or a cultural program were part of it, but the celebration was brightened up by a prize-winning photography contest.

In order not to have just a formal lunch, the vice-president of the Club came up with the idea of organising a prize-winning photography competition. There were only two conditions: the subject of the photo had to be Slovenia and a mandatory participation in the anniversary celebration.

20 contestants sent 60 photos and 60 people attended the lunch. Submitted photos have been reviewed by a professional photographer.
