Incom Leone is the largest Slovenian producer of ice cream and is among the 15 largest in Europe. It operates in 39 markets, including the USA and Australia. Špica is one of the most successful Slovenian IT companies, they deal with time management in order to increase productivity in companies and employees to better balance their professional and private lives. Subsidiary companies have regions in six countries, they also sell in the USA.

Here are the tips of their managers, Boštjan Jerončič from Incom and Tone Stanovnik from Špica, on how to succeed in foreign markets. They also shared them with the participants of the 11th Export Conference organised by Izvozniki.si:

  • Design the product in a way that it is suitable for as many customers as possible
  • First, choose markets where penetration is easier
  • Teaming up with industry companies for remote markets
  • Climb on the shoulders of giants
  • Sales model: try before you buy
  • Shortening the chain to the customer
  • You are not only selling the product, but its placement on the shelf
  • Use the available information to find the right market niche
  • To very distant markets with better technology
